How we handle
your team’s numbers

To fill a shift, Covered sends a text to the staff who can work it. That means it holds your team’s phone numbers, so here is exactly what it does with them. Every worker opts in first, one word ends it forever, and it never texts anyone but your own crew — and only ever about a shift.

A phone resting face-up on a warm wooden counter in soft daylight, a single message on the screen — seen by one person and kept private.

Opt-in, always

Nobody gets a text until they've said yes to getting them. A worker opts in first, and only then can Covered ask them to cover a shift. No surprise messages to someone who never agreed.

One word turns it off

Any worker can text STOP and the messages end for good, right away. They don't ask a manager, they don't fill in a form. One word, and Covered never texts them again.

Only your own team, never customers

Covered texts the people on your roster and nobody else. It has no way to reach a guest, and it never would. The only phone numbers it ever touches are the staff you added yourself.

Your roster is yours

Your staff's numbers are never shared, never sold, never pooled with anyone else's. They sit with your restaurant, they're used to fill your shifts, and that is the whole of it.

Where we are on security

Everything is locked. The full review is still under way.

Your team’s numbers and messages are encrypted, coming and going and while they sit with us. On top of that, we’re part-way through a formal, outside check of how we keep everything safe. We’re not going to put a badge on this page before that is finished and real.

If you want to know exactly where we stand, ask. We’ll tell you what is done, what is still open, and where the gaps are — in plain words, not a runaround.

Straight answers

The questions
an owner asks
before they trust it

The ones that come up the first time you hand over your staff's numbers. Here they are, answered straight.

A single phone in hand over a warm wooden counter in soft daylight, one text on the screen — read by the person holding it and no one else.
Will this spam my staff?
No. A worker only hears from Covered when there's an open shift they could actually take that day — the right role, and they're free. No shift, no text. It isn't a group chat and it isn't marketing.
What if someone doesn't want texts?
Then they never get one. Everyone opts in before their first message, and anyone can text STOP at any time to end it for good. It's their choice to make, not something a manager decides for them.
Do you share or sell our numbers?
Never. Your staff's phone numbers stay with your restaurant. We don't sell them, we don't hand them to anyone, and we don't mix them in with other businesses. They exist to fill your shifts and nothing else.
Can it ever text a customer?
No. Covered only knows the people you put on your roster — your own team. It has no customer list and no way to build one. The only phones it can reach belong to staff who chose to be there.
Who can see the roster and who covered?
You and the managers you choose. A worker sees the shifts they could take and the ones they've picked up — not everyone else's number, not the full staff list. Managers see who covered and how fast it filled.
What happens to our data if we leave?
You take your roster with you in a plain file, we shut off access, and we delete what we hold on a set schedule — then tell you when it's gone. Your team's numbers don't stay behind after you walk away.

Still want
to ask us direct?

Bring the questions your staff would ask. We’d rather answer them now than after you’ve added the first phone number.
